Non-alcoholic beer – the healthy refreshment

Non-alcoholic beer is growing in popularity – and not just among athletes. In its June 2024 issue, Stiftung Warentest tested 20 varieties: Nine received a “good” rating, including Warsteiner, Paulaner, and Krombacher.

Why non-alcoholic beer is healthy

In addition to having up to 40% fewer calories than regular beer, it has isotonic properties and contains less sugar than soft drinks – making it an ideal post-workout refreshment.

Polyphenols – the hidden secret in beer

A marathon study by TU Munich found that polyphenols in non-alcoholic beer strengthen the immune system and reduce inflammation. Participants who drank up to 1.5 liters daily had fewer infections.

What about regular beer?

It actually contains even more polyphenols – but the negative effects of alcohol outweigh the benefits when consumed in large amounts. So, if you’re looking to enjoy the health benefits, non-alcoholic beer is the better choice.
