Fit & Cosy: Allow yourself regular rest

When the days get shorter and cold and darkness dominate outside, the urge to curl up on the sofa with a cup of tea and a blanket is strong. And that’s perfectly okay – relaxation is just as much a part of fitness as training itself.
With the right balance of exercise and relaxation, you’ll not only get through the winter better, but you’ll also feel permanently energetic, balanced and strong.
Recovery – your secret performance booster
Many people forget that progress comes from recovery, not during training.
Recovery phases give your body time to build muscle, store energy and strengthen the immune system.
Make conscious use of autumn and winter for ‘cosy recovery’:
- Stretching and mobility sessions keep muscles supple and prevent injuries.
- Saunas or steam baths help to relax muscles and strengthen the immune system.
- Breathing exercises and yoga reduce stress hormones and promote inner peace.
Tip: After your workout, treat yourself to a warm drink with cinnamon, ginger or turmeric – it warms you up from the inside and aids recovery.
Sleep – the invisible workout
Getting enough sleep is essential, especially in winter. While you sleep, your body produces growth hormones that repair muscles and strengthen the immune system.
Goal: 7–8 hours per night, ideally with a calm evening routine (no screens, warm shower, herbal tea).
Fit & cosy means listening to your body and challenging it wisely. Exercise gives you energy – rest gives you stability. If you consciously combine the two, you will not only stay physically fit, but also mentally balanced.
